I'm so proud of myself!! It's open! Pretty, fragrant. Everything looks healthy, 3 new growths.
Here's the "first spiking" post.

Woohoo! The second neo threw up a spike a few days ago. This is the Fiori one, outside with the catts. I am so proud. I *hope* this means that it's happy, and not thinking it's going to die any minute now, LOL.

My buys from this May SJ Show. The camera cooperated. Barely. You can see the camera's purple streaks in this neofinetia falcata. From Golden Gate. Heavenly fragrance. It is the most adorable little thing.
Another neofinetia falcata. From Cal-Orchid. Couldn't resist, it was so beautifully mounted.
2 spikes on this encyclia radiata from Andy's Orchids. Cannot wait!
An encyclia fragrans, also Andy's Orchids. Beautiful flowers, and wonderful fragrance!

This year it was held at the Miraido Club House instead of the Holiday Inn Express. About the same size, 6 vendors and the society supply table outside. Easy off the freeway, free parking lot across the street, although it was small and fills quickly. We got there early and it wasn't busy yet, so we scored a spot. Ended up spending about an hour there.
Cal-Orchid's booth. Mostly epidendrums and catts, although I got a beautifully grown and mounted Neofinetia falcata for $25.
Andy's Orchids. Got a beautiful encyclia fragrans for $35, and encyclia radiata for $28. Harry Phillips was manning the booth, and he was such a nice guy - really personable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We got a kick out of his story of the disappeared neofinetia, and were blown away by how much fishing line (75 miles/yr) he uses! Remmy, look for 12lb line.
Golden Gate Orchids, nice selection of various orchids. Got another neofinetia falcata here, a gorgeous flowering one. Heavenly scent!
Gold Country Orchids. Always look forward to this booth, but this year there wasn't anything for me. So disappointing. Had to buy something, though, so got a second laelia purpurata v. werkhauseri.

Dropped in at Fiori d'Amore to add to the ever-growing collection. Got 9 assorted: 4 cyms, 2 oncs, 1 dend, 1 BLC, and a first ever addition - a Neofenetia. It was the *cutest* little thing, and fragrant. Didn't have time to scour their catt section, so may go back tomorrow.
Family-owned business, once a year they open up their Oakland grounds. I usually get stuff from them at orchid shows. The owners are so nice and they obviously love their collection. It's a huge property with tons of beautiful orchids and other flowers. It's wonderful to wander around, although it's pretty sloping in areas, and I always forget to wear flat shoes!
Of course I forgot that I now have mobile capability and could have taken a few pics of their impressive grounds. Hmmm, that means I definitely have to make a return trip!
Edit 5/7/09: Pics from a revisit!
