Orchidholic Shopping

Came for a pick-me-up, didn't quite do the job, but did manage to walk away with 6 more orchids. Bad bad girl. Popped into McLellan's, found a couple blptms that were just too killer to pass up, $8 ea. All fragrant!! I noticed a surfeit of zygopetalums in each store I visited. How neat.

Orchidholic, previously shown by mobile, nicer pic with the new camera. There's another full wall of orchids to the right of the pic, as well as another corridor down the back. Daniel isn't there weekends, but the salesgirl was kinda nice too. Picked up 3 fragrant phals and one fading zygo on the salesrack for $5 each.

Both bollopetalums Midnight Blue 'Cardinal's Roost' (another typo, says bolopetalum. Grrr. Did I mention I hate typos?!) Fell in love with this color, came out pretty accurately in the pics.

More Orchids!!

Darned, I keep forgetting to take pics of the Flower Mart shops! Anyway, made another trip out, didn't find anything I wanted at McLellan's, but got 7 little (mostly noid) phals at Orchid Plant Trading, and 2 noid zygopetalums at Orchid Barn. Shocking, got the camera to work! Well, for about 5 mins. The phals are Phal Nobby's Amy and Dtps Pure Moon 'Green Pixie'.

6/10/09: Interesting to see this post linked in a Russian orchid forum! I don't mind the use of my pic, but I'm dying of curiosity as to what it is all you orchidists are looking at? The translator wasn't too clear, does someone also have this phal? Would love a comment! Happy growing!

Phal Yu Pin Acacia x violacea #2

McClellan buy. None of the buds had opened on either one of the crosses, so was a bit nervous about it, but any fragrant phals I snap up. The first one wasn't as attractive, petals/sepals more elongated and don't overlap. This one has very nice form, and a beautiful fragrance. Small compact plant.

5/30/08 Man, is this one a little trooper! No bud blast like some of the other new purchases, flowers just opening up as cool as can be.

8/12/08 WOW!! All buds finished opening, most flowers still perfect. Love this orchid!
